Hello there! It’s the last Sunday of the year and definitely the last piece I’ll be writing to you this year. I would like to appreciate you for taking time to read my posts from the middle of the year when I started till now. There are not so many things that give me joy as writing and I’m glad you have found my letters worthwhile.

Today, I’m writing on the sites and communities I drew knowledge from in the course of the year. I desire growth in every area and this has spurred my desire to gain knowledge in different fields of interest. Since I have a flair for Finance and the Economy, Tech and Governance, this post will focus on that. I have carefully selected a few and I recommend them for you moving on to the new year.

  1. Money Rise Newsletter : If there is any newsletter full of financial learning and value, count Money Rise’s newsletter as one. Money Rise focuses on personal finance, inflation and its gross effects, fiscal and monetary policies of the federal government in Nigeria and other nations across the world and basically any policy by large companies or the government that could affect the average citizen.

In my bid to learn and understand how the economy of Nigeria and many other nations work, I found Money Rise last year and I have not looked back. I also look forward to the funny memes attached to each newsletter. If you’re keen on issues like this, you can read their most recent newsletter on CBN’s cashless policy here and subscribe.

2. Stears Insights: Stears is a media company that provides data, insight, and data collection tools for businesses, financial and policy professionals. Amazingly, Stears is also for the average Nigerian because they expand various policy decisions by the government and businesses and explain how these policies affect the average citizen. They also focus on reviewing the government’s performance in different sectors by analyzing the trend of events using data visualization. Basically, Stears Insight gives information that is detailed and simple to understand.

Recently, Stears insights released their 10 must-read articles of the year which includes an analysis of the manifestos of the three major parties in next year’s presidential election. A good read for anyone who is still undecided about who to vote for. You can read articles for free and also pay for their premium subscription

3. BD Insider Newsletter: Founded by Benjamin Dada, BD Insider is a newsletter publication that delivers impressive reports on tech, startups and entrepreneurship in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. With the BD insider, you can get all the news you need in the tech world on a weekly basis including the latest African Tech Start-up deals, insights into policy decisions in various tech companies, tech jobs, funding opportunities and many more. The BD Insider offers both free and premium subscription. If you are a tech guy or tech sis, or even an aspiring one, you should jump on this.

4. Success Within International: SWI is a faith based organization founded by Adebayo Ajayi with a vision of raising people of outstanding success for global relevance. It is simply a community for purpose driven individuals. My highlights in SWI are breakfast meetings and games night every month, and the quarterly buddy pairing. All of these and many more have helped to build me up, connect with people and also inspire others. I can say that being a part of SWI has transformed me in no small way. You can be a part of SWI community by joining here.

5. The K.O Circle: For Gen Zs reading this, this community is for you. The K.O Circle was founded by Kola Oyeneyin in 2021 with a vision to raise a generation of young people to a level of global influence and impact. Easy to know why I joined. Over the past one year, Mr. Kola Oyeneyin has invested so much knowledge in teaching Gen Zs how to: prepare for a new year, be financially intelligent, position one’s self for global opportunities amongst others. He also recommends different books each month for everyone to read as he believes that readers are leaders. Since his desire is to give young people access to resources that will help them (us) become a formidable power center, I can say it’s a good place to be. If you’re between 18 & 27, you should find a home here.

6. Lead With JD: I’m big on reading and perusing different resources and the Lead with JD community simply helps me with that. The community created by Jesudamilare Adesegun-David, a thought alchemist, community builder and redemptive entrepreneur is aimed at leading you to learn principles for living your best life, eating your cake and having it and transcending the rat race of life into a life lived by design. Being in this community helps you to listen to thoughtful meditations, watch mind-blowing videos and read amazing resources. Last year, I listened to Wealth of Access and it has helped me access, nurture and sustain the diverse kinds of relationships I have been blessed with. To be a part of this community, you can join here

7. Gov. Seyi Makinde’s Newsletter: It is not very common to find politicians write to the people who elected them into office especially in Nigeria and therefore, seeing the Governor of Oyo State imbibe that is quite remarkable. I hail from Oyo State and reading the governor’s newsletters give me a sense of belonging in the affairs and governance of the state especially when I’m away from the state. The purpose of his newsletter is to inform the general public of his activities in government and give reasons why he makes various decisions. He also conducts polls and surveys for his readers to express their thoughts on what is most important for his administration to do and also on how well he has performed. He recommends his monthly books to his readers and tells the lessons learnt in those books biweekly. You can subscribe to his newsletters here

After sharing seven sites and communities, this is the perfect way to round off this post. Here’s to discovering even more in the coming year. If you have resources (sites and communities) you believe I can draw knowledge from, you can share them by replying this post or you can send me a mail here or at goodjoshinfo@gmail.com. If you’d like to read a piece on Christmas, I wrote something on it last year.

May the love of Christ fill your hearts and minds this season. I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2023.

Love and Light, always.
